Scientist Cracks the Great Mystery
Star of Bethlehem
Rutgers AstronomerMichael R. Molnar
has Unlocked the
Mystery of the Christmas Star
Could the Christmas star have been the meeting of several stars or planets into one bright super-star? Or did God send his own sign - one that the Magi were able to read?
Surprisingly, many new and recent archaeological discoveries confirm various aspects of the Bible as true historical fact. Here is the newest confirmation:
Michael Molnar, an astronomer and manager of Physics Instructional Labs at Rutgers University, has made "one of the greatest such discoveries of the 20th century" (Owen Gingerich, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics) - that the star of Bethlehem was actually the planet Jupiter. And, yes, it was in the "east". And, yes, it did stop in the sky! And, yes, it did predict the birth of a new King of the Jews! Here is how:
Intrigued by the image he found on an ancient coin (see exhibit) of the Ram and a star, Michael Molnar investigated teachings of ancient astrologers (Or "Magi" as they were called).
#1 He found that the Ram was the symbol for the constellation Aries which was a symbol of the Jewish land of Judea at the time.
#2 He also discovered that ancient astrologers believed that a new king would be born when the moon passed in front of Jupiter.
So, if the moon passed in front of the planet Jupiter as Jupiter were passing through the constellation Aries - that would mean that a new king is born to the Jews in Judea.
Molnar made the calculations and determined that on April 17th 6 B.C., Jupiter was indeed in the eastern sky (" in the east " ) and was passing through the constellation Aries and the Moon also was passing in front of Jupiter - all the same time. Amazing!!
Moreover, as a bonus, he also found that Roman astrologers described the conditions of that day as fitting the birth of a "divine and immortal" person.
But what about the star "stopping"?? Molnar made the calculations and found that the elliptical path of Jupiter would appear to make a line and a loop as seen from the earth. And indeed the loop occurred at that same time in 6 B.C.. At the ends of the loop, the planet would appear to stop before it started to loop back.
Here shown isthe original coin and the original notes of Michael Molnar used to crack the Star of Bethlehem mystery.
"Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea, in the days of Herod the king, behold there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, "Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him."" -Matthew 2:1-2
" the star went ahead of them until it stopped " -Matthew 2:9
